  I have a super secret prank for tomorrow's convention

  i got dragged to the convention with my folks again because i got a court order stating i have to be with my mother at all times.

  so tomorrow, i'm playing a prank.

  only a few people on this board know what that prank is.

  We've been invited to a JC

  for those of you don't know our story sweet pea and i stopped attending all meetings quite abruptly about 4 months ago.

  since then we have had a few ill-advised conversations with jw friends and family stating our reasons - sometimes in emails.

  also sp emailed a new friend on another forum her experiene with going to a new church.

  The only reason I disappeared and faded out without DA'ing myself was out of respect for my witness parents. I did not want them to have to face the humilation that goes along with having a family member DF'ed or DA'ed.

  That being said if it wasn't for them I would have gone out with a huge bang and made all sorts of noise and probably popped there bubble about all the other kids drinking and having sex at parties (the kids that everyone thought were so good) Still to this day I wish I had made more noise and gone down in flames.

  I couldn't get through all of it but it seems almost like chapter 1 was enough. As far as I heard my whole life growing up as a JW it was drilled into me that the UN was bad. Even as a much younger person I can rememeber hearing the UN was the beast and I didn't even really no what the UN was. This guy who wrote these articles seems to forget the most important simple fact of all. On what grounds at all does it seem ok for the Society to have any involvement whatsoever with the UN even an offshoot. For sake of argument lets say the Society didn't know exactly what they were getting into, lets also say that things got twisted around and before they realized it they were more involved than they orignally intended. Well I still come back to the fact that there shouldn't have been any grounds for association with what they deemed the beast I mean come lets just invite Satan over for a cup of tea to talk things over. Remeber "Bad association spoils useful habits"

  I really don't see how any defense works in this case. Nothing that can be said makes it okay no matter how small the level.

  However what I did read was interesting, interesting yet sad... I feel bad for the guy defending them like a programmed robot. I feel bad for all those still stuck in the lies. I feel bad for every person who can't see past the delusion and says they are happy waiting for something they will never see.

  Shunning of ex JW family members imposed or optional?

  some supportes of the jws argue that the wts does not impose on its followers to shun and disgrace ex jw family members, it leaves them the option to decide on the issue and some shun and others do not.

  is that an honest arguments or is it like the blood issue where the wts supposedly doesn't impose on its members the decision to refuse blood?

  for all we know the non shunning of ex jw family members except for absolutely necessary contact could lead a jw to dfing.

  Luckily for me I was out before this "New Light" in 2002..Didn't know they had come down that much harder on the whole shunning thing....Apart from my parents (My Mom is a rebel and doesn't even know it) I shunned everyone else, friends and even a few distant family members. I did not go to any family funerals that took place in a Kingdom Hall anymore than I would expect the JW's to come to a church for a funeral.

  I quess my parents and I kind of have a don't ask don't tell policy because I am pretty sure other than my mothers close friends she sure doesn't go around saying she has an apostate daughter, that might put a damper on things with this whole 2002 business. Thank goodness she is the master of denial after being in JW's for her whole life that I quess she can ignore the fact that I'm "unbelieving"

  i thought i would post a quick new thread to share something somewhat funny that just happened to me.... i live across the street from a church....i heard al green music coming from inside the church, now i don't know about all you but i kind of put al green in the we'll just call it the "romantic" .

  I thought I would post a quick new thread to share something somewhat funny that just happened to me...

  I live across the street from a Church....I heard Al Green music coming from inside the church, now I don't know about all you but I kind of put Al Green in the we'll just call it the "Romantic" category. Now there was no cars at the church and the doors were shut yet blaring out was "Let's stay together" Does anyone esle find the humor in this?

  *SIGHS* So much I could say but alas I will keep it as simple as possible. I'm not really sure why you felt the need to come here at all. You stated you new this site existed as if it was eating you up inside not to have a poke around here. What purpose does that serve you or Jehovah? Do you not trust enough when the Society warns it's flock to stay away from sites like these. It was my understanding when I was a witness that reading apostate material was an unforgiveable sin? That all leads me to believe then that you came here for another reason. Did you find what you were looking for? There is a reason people get defensive without provacation is it because you yourself have doubts and by defending your stance it gives you some temporary peace of mind?

  Not all of us here had all that bad of an experience with being Jehovah's Witnesses. A lot of us were not abused or have bad parents or bad experiences with congregations or elders. For me it was the contrary I had some really good experiences with congregations and elders and still to this day I am thankful that I was raised with good moral values. You say that JW's are so happy but my friend you are poorly mistaken. I knew more sad depressed people who were JW's then I do in the so-called "World" Do you know why that is? Because you live a lie one that is forced upon you without you even realizing it...Because the Society is an emotional vampire that sucks people's willpower so slowly you don't even notice what you have become, a pawn....

  Deprogamming is a strange and hard but extremely rewarding process Do you know why? Because in the end I get to be the best me I can be. A me that makes her own decisions and chooses her own actions as well as faces her own consquences.

  Someone said the Society asked "what is the hardest thing about being in the truth?" I say "It's living the lie"
